Technological innovations in semi processing and product development of Chirayita (Swertia), Karu (Picrorhiza Kurrooa), Lavender and Rose were initiated. In the initial trial process sachets of dry Chirayita and Lavender flowers were made as herbal tea. Chirayita and Lavender were used in control of blood sugar level and anxiety in different traditional and ayurvedic formulations. Innovation was done to develop pure formulations of these plants to address the requirements of diabetic control and mood depression and tonic to heart on one hand and provide good economic returns to the cultivators on the other. During the year under progress information on Chirayita in control of fasting blood sugar level by consuming infusion of 5 gram Chirayita empty stomach in the morning. Information was collected from around 200 consumers over the year and 164 reported reduction in fasting blood sugar level. Effect was achieved after 20 days of regular intake alongwith allopathic drug they were using. Complete pharmacogonosy and pharmacology details were reserved as disclosure may affect proprietary claims. Similarly dry lavender flower tea sachet relieves anxiety, body aches and induces sleep. Installation of machines sanctioned under core support is expected to facilitate clearance of these products for commercial production under Food Safety Standard Act. Facility for production of rose water was existing and 145 liters of high quality rose waster was prepared during year under progress.
